Homer Lane

From Palo Alto 1962-66John Dufford

Homer Lane was a short dirt road near San Francisquito Creek with a cluster of little cottages, tucked into the hills behind the Stanford campus. It was the first psychedelically activated “magical community” I was involved in.

John Dufford lived there. I auditioned for the Vipers in a utility shed there. Norman Linke (and his wife Ellie, pregnant with their daughter Maya) lived in a house just across the creek. Carrie and Lars moved in right after my time there. Dick Alpert rented a cottage there where I smoked DMT the night before an unplanned cross country hitch hike. Vic Lovell had a cottage with John Dufford’s ex-wife Diana. She later married Stewart Brand
