As part of the massive corporate downsizing of the late ’80’s and early ’90’s, I was laid off from Avnet after ten years. I looked for work bridging the gap between data processing and senior management groups in corporations, the way I had been doing at Avnet. It became evident I needed to beef up my technology skills, so I went to ICT (then called the Institute of Computer Technology) and got the certificate in computer programming. The small for-profit school appears to have gone out of business.
I still didn’t get any work after finishing ICT. Out of desperation and to re-energize my job search, I went back to Landmark Education to take the Advanced Course, for graduates of the Forum.
