Stage 6. Late Adulthood – The Artisan in the Wild Orchard
In the Interactive Table I say this is when I was 57-67 years old. The “Wild Orchard” was the urban magnet high school with 1000 students, 50 teachers, and additional support staff. The “Artisan” was me as the Teacher Librarian drawing on my previous lives as a researcher, drummer, stagehand, child care worker, meditation teacher, corporate manager, entrepreneur, technology consultant, and elementary school teacher.
To briefly summarize the links below, we moved into our new condo. I found a practice that massively and joyfully opened up my energies. I got a great new job. The next few years were a blossoming and fruition from a lot of hard work and struggle. Then I had a little speech problem that didn’t get diagnosed for almost a year and a half. The very frightening diagnosis in May 2009 left a month and then two full years of teaching before I could retire with lifetime health benefits, which I would definitely need. Those last two years were pretty emotional, as were the multiple retirement parties.
